Two weeks after I was born, Mommy started looking for support groups to learn how to take better care of me. She found a local group and decided to join one of their "Mom's Night Out" gatherings. It was a monthly event where the women from the group could unwind, take a break from their husbands and children, and share experiences. They all shared a common bond, and they welcomed Mommy with open arms, making her feel supported and understood.
That night, Mommy got a glimpse into a different perspective. She saw that life with a child like me wasn’t as overwhelming as she had imagined. Instead, it could be filled with moments of joy, friendship, and laughter. However, this particular event wasn’t meant for kids, but there I was, just two weeks old, surrounded by grown-ups enjoying their wine and having a grand time. Luckily, Mommy didn’t give me any wine, thank goodness!
Even though I wasn’t supposed to be there, I ended up being part of an experience that helped Mommy find strength and hope. She saw that she wasn’t alone on this journey and that there was a whole community ready to walk alongside her.
